Poland should acquire 7.5 per cent of energy from renewable sources by 2013 and in 2020 it should be as much as 20 per cent – informed Grażyna Gęsicka, the minister of regional development, during the Polish-Swedish conference on Bioenergetics that was held in Warsaw. In 2007-2013, Poland will receive a huge support from the EU budget for coherence policy (including, but not limited to, development of renewable energy).
In the end of March, Janusz Mikuła, the vice-minister of regional development, said that in 2007-2013 Poland can receive from the EU funds, among other things, 542 million Euro for development of power engineering from renewable sources as a part of one of the priorities of the operating programme “Infrastructure and Environment”. These priorities include improvement in efficiency of generating electric energy, reduction in energy consumption in the public sector and reduction in losses in transmission and distribution of electric energy and heat. This support will serve provision of new generated powers on the basis of the renewable energy sources and production of biocomponents and biofuels. Some amounts for these objectives – approx. 500 million Euro from each of the sources – can also be acquired under the Regional Operational Programmes (ROP) and Rural Development Programme (RDP).
In Poland, it is already possible to take investment credits for implementation of the projects co-financed by the Structural Funds under the Sectoral Operational Programme: “Restructuring and Modernisation of the Food Sector and Rural Development”. The institution authorised to provide support is the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture.
